Canadian diamonds provide an ethical option for jewelry buyers. It somehow seems ironic that couples purchasing a symbol of their undying love would choose a stone mined by small boys forced to work for slave wages in unsafe African mines so some fat white guys at de Beers can get rich. The Canadian stones have tiny polar bears or tiny maple leaves etched into them. The symbols help assure those who care that the diamond they have purchased is not a Blood Diamond.
